Congestion Reduction in Heterogeneous Network through Qos Multipath Routing Algorithms

Reliable multipath routing separates the traffic among different paths to leverage multiple alternative paths through a network which can provide a variety of benefits such as fault tolerance, increased bandwidth, or improved security and to minimize congestion and overcome node failures. The delay minimization can be achieved through delay synchronization. So, multiple path routing algorithm for heterogeneous network is adopted mainly to minimize the delay and to fulfill the end to end reliability. Maintaining QoS in each node maximizes network resources utilization, and minimizes operational costs on all the types of wired-wireless-mobile networks. In this paper, we propose QoS multipath routing algorithm for heterogeneous networks. Multi-path model uses a set of multiple parallel path to transfer information. In adhoc networks Ad-Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) is used for routing Ad-Hoc On Demand Multipath Distance Vector (AOMDV) is basically an extension to the AODV routing protocol. AOMDV is one of the routing protocol in wireless network which is designed to form multiple routes from source to the destination and also avoid the loop formation so that it reduces congestion in the channel. In this paper, we propose QoS multipath routing for heterogeneous network, the performance of AODV and AOMDV protocols are evaluated. Heterogeneous networks were simulated using NS2. Experimental results demonstrate that QoS multipath routing algorithm helps to reduce congestion, bandwidth, delay and packet loss.
